After some months of testing and playing with the Sobi2 component, I feel quite confident to give it a fair review, and I must say that I’m really impressed by the work of the Sigsiu developers.

The component is designed as a directory and indexing package to organize and present all sorts of data. There is a learning curve to begin with, but once you become familiar with the component it offers an extensive capability and flexibility. The best part is that it includes the option to use templates, and with a little css/html and php skills you can configure the templates to fit any need. Combined with the powerful core features of the component, there are endless possibilities to index and present any kind of data, just the way you want. In addition there are a wide range of add ons, designed to work specifically with this component, and also plenty of built-in features which adds to it’s flexibility.

The support is great, and the Sobi2 component is continuously developed, getting better every day. The forum is excellent. If you run into any kind of problem, just post it on the forum and the problem is often solved immediately, either by the developers or the forum members! The forum help is really outstanding, and far beyond that offered by most other Joomla forums!

My only complaint is the lack of a fully integrated and powerful commenting system. Hopefully, this will be noticed by third party developers, as the popularity of this component seem to increase every day...

All in all, this is truly a high quality component designed to handle any kind of directory and indexing purposes, and it’s ceratinly one of the best within any Open Source CMS environment!
