In SOBI 2 Fields Manager you can use "Select List" and "Checkbox Group" as Field Type. If you use these field types you have to observe some rules. The most important rule is, that you may not use the same Option Name twice. This concerns not only the select list of one custom field but all select lists and checkbox groups you defined in the custom fields manager. There are two different ways available to add the options. You can enter each option separately using the "Add new pair of variates" button or by adding a complete list of all options. Add new pair of variatesCreate a new custom field of type select list or checkbox group called e.g. field_towns. As long as you don't save this new custom field the first time, all option names of this field will get a name like field_temp_opt_1 (see A). If you don't change this name you will get possible duplicate option names in your directory. If you save the new custom field without adding options and edit the field again, the option names created automatically will now include the name of the field, e.g. field_towns_opt_1 (see B).
Save your new custom field once before you add options! Add CSV value listYou can add a CSV (semicolon separated values) list of options in the following forms:
If you use the first way of adding values, keep in mind that the option values are also used as names. Because the option name is an HTML element of a list you may not use special characters nor blanks in there. Use this way only if you have simple values (e.g. red, green, blue). But keep also in mind that adding a second custom field in this way with the same values will result in duplicate option names. Therefore you should always prefer the second method!
Example of a CSV list: If you add values for the same field in another language using the CSV list method, the option names have to be always the same independent of the language. Therefore the first method cannot be used. The list will be added while saving the custom field. You have to set "Save CSV List" to "Yes". This will overwrite previous existing values. |
