DiscoDRock,

You do not say which version of Joomla! you are using.

In Joomla! 1.5.x you need to have enabled Joomla! native SEF URL's.
Refer SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials - Item (4)

PS: The problem you describe is usually a result of not having made a Joomla! Menu Item link to the SOBI2 Frontpage. Refer SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials - Item (6)

I've tried what you,ve suggested above, however it doesn't work for me, when I create a menu link to the sobi home, it comes up with an error, page not found?

ampz21,

(1) Please attach a copy of your SOBI2 System Check logfile
Joomla! Administrator->Components->SOBI2->About System->Perform System Check->Download System Check Log File

(2) What are you settings for;
Joomla! Administrator->Global Configuration->Site->SEO Settings
Search Engine Friendly URLs
Use Apache mod_rewrite
Add suffix to URLs

Hi Mark,
the setting in the Global Config were:
Search Engine Friendly URLs: Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite: No
Add suffix to URLs: No

I then changed the settings as required to try and remove the url detail, but as it didn't work I changed it back to the settings listed above.

Kind regards,
ampz21.

(1) Please attach a copy of your SOBI2 System Check logfile
Joomla! Administrator->Components->SOBI2->About System->Perform System Check->Download System Check Log File

SobiSEF requires 'Use Apache mod_rewrite: Yes' to remove 'index.php' from SEF URL
Apache mod_rewrite requires renaming (or copying)  of htaccess.txt to .htaccess before activating.

Do you have a Joomla! SEF Component or other Joomla! Component that changes SOBI2 URL's (such as Joom!fish) installed?

Regards - Mark

I did change the settings when I tried it, (renemed the htaccess.txt file first), however as it didnt work, I changed it back... Once I created a menu link to the sobi main page, and click on it it just came up with page not found.

I have no other sef components installed,
Kind regards,

ampz21,

Your SOBI2 System Check Logfile indicates you are running a localhost Apache Server on Windows XP Professional.
Exactly what software package are you using for this?

Your SOBI2 System Check Logfile indicates you have SOBI2 RC 2.9.2.4 installed.
I presume you are using SobiSEF Plugin RC 1.7, correct?

Your SOBI2 System Check Logfile also indicates you have SOBI2 Level 2 and Level 3 caching enabled.
Turn off all SOBI2 and Joomla! caching while you are trying to debug problems.

SOBI2 Caching
Joomla! Administrator->Components->SOBI2->Configuration->General Configuration->Cache->Second Level Cache Enabled = No
Joomla! Administrator->Components->SOBI2->Configuration->General Configuration->Cache->Third Level Cache Enabled = No

Joomla! Caching
Joomla! Administrator->Global Configuration->System->Cache Settings->Cache = No
Joomla! Administrator->Extensions->Plugin Manager->System - Cache->Enabled = No

Can you please give me an exact description of your problem, since you have just 'added on' to this original posting by DiscoDRock

Once I created a menu link to the sobi main page, and click on it it just came up with page not found.

Exactly how are you creating a link to the SOBI2 Frontpage?
I assume that you are using SOBI2 Extended Menu Items?
What is the full text of the 'page not found' error message you are getting?
