According my issue I could say : For each category/subcategory/subsubcategory.... you have to create one and only one menu item in Sobi2 extended menu items and point to this specific category/subcategory/subsubcategory. Then it is working without issues. Well, issue is 300 menu items  :( :( :( when I have 300 categories.

Yes, I have checked SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials several times. Everything is working well without SobiSef.
I have one and only one Sobi 2 Frontpage linked in Joomla main menu to site default/homepage. Yes it is linked in
Sobi 2 Extended menu items (index.php?option=com_sobi2)
When I turn on SobiSef links look good and logically, but not redirecting to category page (frontpage - page not found I guess) :

Example categories/url for better explanation of my issue (I'm not using this cat names, but you wont understand my language - so lets say
I have cars as categories  :

_Cars
__Toyota
___Corola
____Combi

SEFURL LOOKING GOOD  :),  BUT NOT WORKING  :( : http://localhost/en/cars/toyota/corola/combi/

If I have "combi" subcategory assigned in Joomla main menu items and linked to this "combi" category with Sobi2 extended menu items, everything is working correctly and with sobisef. After clicking to "combi" category I was redirected as expected
I have to point to specific category (this means that if I want ma 300 categories working correctly, I have to have 300menu items = crazy )

If I do not assign/point to "combi" category in any menu items, building of sef urls still works, but it is not redirecting to "combi" category
but only to frontpage with root categories. (default instead 404 error)

Only reason that it is not working could be joomfish, as you mentioned Mark in PM.
Is it not adding joomfish language code in url? But why is it working if I assign specific category to menu item?

Any help really appreciated.

Thanks,
Pavol

Only reason that it is not working could be joomfish, as you mentioned Mark in PM.

(1) Joom!fish may be the cause of your problem.
I am not familiar with Joom!fish working with SobiSEF plugin, but I do know it can cause issues since both Joom!fish and the SobiSEF plugin are trying to rewrite SOBI2 URL's.
I assume you have read and implemented How to run SobiSEF with JoomFish. I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the solution in that posting,
(a) because as I say, I am not familar with Joom!fish, and
(b) the solution(s) posted in How to run SobiSEF with JoomFish do not state for which version(s) of SobiSEF plugin and which version(s) of Joom!fish they apply.

(2) What happens if you disable Joom!fish and then purge your SobiSEF URL's?
Does everything work OK if Joom!fish is not installed/enabled?

If you cannot get SobiSEF plugin working with Joom!fish uninstalled/disabled, then it is unlikely to work with Joom!fish enabled.

Hi Mark,

thank you for pointing me to right place.
Your guide to sobisef essentials is great and I tried several times to repeat whole procedure.
I have disabled joomfish and also purged sefurls.
I have found out that I have problems with sobisef. Without sobisef is everything working (even with joomfish).
When I activate sobi sef I'm not able to get to subcategories which are note already
assigned in joomla menu items (redirected to  frontpage with all entries). I have also problem with duplicated breadcrumb.
I have read your breadcrumb/pathway guide...and saw example (it is like my issue).
You are explaining that this is joomla behaviour...but how to avoid this? I think
this will confuse all users (when I have two same links in breadcrumbs).

I see only possibility to start with fresh install - as my debugging do not help. I will prepare clear english category structure and put
 it online today/tommorow.

I will then PM you login details.

Regards,
Pavol.

Pavol,

Are you absolutely certain that you have created a Joomla! Menu Item linking to the SOBI2 Frontpage (index.php?option=com_sobi2)?
Refer SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials - Item 6
and if so, are you absolutely certain that you do not have other Joomla! Menu Items linking to the SOBI2 Frontpage?
Refer SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials - Item 7
If your Joomla! Menu Items are not in accordance with SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials - Items 6 & 7, then it is possible to have the problem you describe.

Also I note you do not say which version of the SobiSEF plugin you have installed. Since you are using PHP v5.3.0 you should be using SobiSEF plugin RC 1.7
RC 1.7 (09.04.2010)
----------------------
! Change: Removal of functions deprecated in PHP 5.3
! Change: Supress inital message if plugin is de-activated
# Bugfix: After deleting URL in Manage screen, redirection to plugin manager

I assume that the version of Joom!fish you are using is compatible with PHP v5.3.0?

Hi Mark,

Yes, I'm absolutely sure that I created Menu item linking to Sobi2 frontpage.
And I rechecked all menu items to see if I have other link to Sobi2 frontpage - but I do not have.
I also think that I completed steps 6 and 7 SobiSef conf. essentials.

Yes I use SobiSef RC 1.7 (latest for download today I guess)

What you mean by this?
"! Change: Supress inital message if plugin is de-activated
# Bugfix: After deleting URL in Manage screen, redirection to plugin manager
"

I stoped using joomfish for now, as I'm trying to bugfix sobisef/breadcrumbs to play nice...
I have spent lot of time in order to fix SOBISEF/BREADCRUMBS issue but I do not see any solution so far.

So I prepared online testing version of sobi2. There is one menu item category 1_1_2 deactivated in Joomla and
you can clearly see that when I click on this category link in sigsiu tree I'm redirected to frontend (I expect to see entry, then entry detail).
I also have issue with duplicating of breadcrumbs.
Please visit my testing website, I will PM you access details. http://www.webfirst.eu/

Pavol,

I am not sure what

means.

Pavol,

I visited your test web site http://www.webfirst.eu/ today.

... There is one menu item category 1_1_2 deactivated in Joomla and
you can clearly see that when I click on this category link in sigsiu tree I'm redirected to frontend (I expect to see entry, then entry detail).

The SOBI2 Structure you have is;
SOBI2 Entry, Title = Entry Category 1
is assigned to
Category 1_1
Category 1_1_1
Category 1_1_2

SOBI2 Entry, Title = Entry Category 1_1_2
is assigned to
Category 1_1_2

Problem
When you click on the SOBI2 Menu Module
for Category 1_1_2 (URL = http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11/category-1_1_2.html)
You are redirected to the SOBI2 Frontpage
which indicates SOBI2 was unable to resolve the URL http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11/category-1_1_2.html

Also in the SOBI2 Category View, when navigating to the SOBI2 Category 1_1_2,
The view at http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11 (the Category 1_1 view)
shows there are two SOBI2 Entries for Category 1_1_2,
but clicking on the Category 1_1_2 link http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11/category-1_1_2.html

(1) Reviewing the SEF URL's created for the SOBI2 Menu Module
0.       Name=SOBI2                 (URL= http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage (Root Category or SOBI2 Frontpage)
1.       Name=Category 1         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1)
1.1     Name=Category 1_1     (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11)
1.1.1  Name=Category 1_1_1 (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11/category-111)
1.1.2  Name=Category 1_1_2 (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/category-11/category-1_1_2.html)
1.2     Name=Category 1_2     (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/category-1/2010-06-02-21-29-08)
2.       Name=Category 2         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-2.html)
3.       Name=Category 3         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-3.html)

These SOBI2 Menu Module URL's appear inconsistent.
URL's for Item's 0, 2. and 3. appear correct and consistent, except the '.html' is only shown in items 2. and 3.
URL for Item 1.2 is apparently incorrect.

This would indicate a problem with configuration of Joomla! Menu Items linking to the SOBI2 Component not conforming to SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials

I will now go and review your Joomla! Menu Item Configuration.

Regards - Mark

I am still working on your web site http://www.webfirst.eu/
These notes are mainly for my benefit.

I went to your Joomla! Menu Items for mainmenu and unpublished all Menu Items linking to Categories, leaving only the Menu Item linked to the SOBI2 Frontpage (Menu ItemID=1, which is also the default Menu Item, the Joomla! Frontpage).
I purged the SobiSEF URL's

(1) Reviewing the SEF URL's created for the SOBI2 Menu Module
0.       Name=SOBI2                 (URL= http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage (Root Category or SOBI2 Frontpage)
1.       Name=Category 1         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-1.html)
1.1     Name=Category 1_1     (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-1/category-1_1.html)
1.1.1  Name=Category 1_1_1 (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-1/category-1_1/category-1_1_1.html)
1.1.2  Name=Category 1_1_2 (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-1/category-1_1/category-1_1_2.html)
1.2     Name=Category 1_2     (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-1/category-1_2.html)
2.       Name=Category 2         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-2.html)
3.       Name=Category 3         (URL=http://www.webfirst.eu/home-sobi2-frontpage/category-3.html)

The URL's now all appear consistent and appear to work correctly and the Breadcrumb is consistent.
I set
Joomla! Administator->Components->SOBI2->Configuration->General Configuration->General->Show Entries of Subcategories=No
Joomla! Administator->Components->SOBI2->Configuration->General Configuration->General->Show Entries on Mainpage=No
so that it is more obvious that the correct SOBI2 Entries are being displayed in the appropriate Category View.
Category Navigation appears to produce the correct results.

I will now go and work on your Joomla! Menu Item Category links.

Regards - Mark

ghost999,

I have now found a problem with the SobiSEF plugin creating SEF URL links in your test system.
I am now working to try and isolate the exact configuration conditions under which the problem occurs.

Pavol/ghost999,

I have now raised a bug report for the problem you are experiencing.
Refer SobiSEF plugin RC 1.6/1.7 not creating required sub-sub-category External URL's
We will have to wait until the SOBI2 Developers confirm the bug report and then hopefully release appropriate updates to fix the problem.
Thank you for reporting the problem and helping me to isolate it.
