Topic: Bash Script to clone SOBI2 and Plugins (Cloning Tool)

I have created two ( for Joomla! 1.5 and Joomla! 1.0 ) clones called com_sobidir. Additionally I have also clone for Joomla! 1.5 called  com_extensions (as on the demo site) with menu module, Report Listing plugin, Review & Rating plugin and SobiSef. These are clones of the latest SOBI2 RC2.9.1.0 version. If you want to have it, just let me know.
Condition to get this clone; at least one review star

I will answer on my own question in sake of helping the ones who wanted to know about the possible number of sobi clones in one website...

I cloned sobi 3 times and installed all three clones in one website. Everything is working like a charm with all plugins and modules related to Sobi2 component even the Gallery plugin.

So, again, really GREAT script to clone sobi2.

I think I have the same problem with plugin/template stuff.

Everything working like a charm with SOBI2 version 2.9.1.0 (no cloned yet). All plugins/templates/modules installed and running perfectly.

When I followed the instruction and cloned SOBI2, the installation of the cloned SOBIDIR is perfect but having problems with ALL plugin/tepmplates/module. Each time I try to install a plugin, I got this message: "Error: Could not parse XML file. Installation aborted. : 93"; and for the template: "Error: Could not parse XML file. Installation aborted. : 348"

I have searched in this forum and found some kinds of similar thread like this: http://www.sigsiu.net/forum/index.php/topic,2174.0.html, but these solution do not seem to fix my issue.

So, why I got such problems with the cloned SOBIDIR?

Any ideas, guys?

You must clone modules and plug-ins too. Everything that you want to use with cloned Sobi2 must be cloned with clone_sobi.sh file with  the same name you gave to the cloned Sobi2. Even the translation if you use one. In this case I see you named your clone sobidir, so this is the name that you must enter whenever bash clone script is asking for.

I tried as your suggestion, I tried to clone "reviews" plug-in, and when the script asks for the name, I typed "sobidir". But when I install this cloned plug-in and got this message: "XML-Setup file does not exist in the package : 66".

I also tried to use other names like: sobidir_reviews, reviews, clone_reviews,etc; but it does not work.

Could you please show me more about this issue?

Check if you changed the name of zipped file as well if you are installing modules for sobi via Joomla! installer.
It doesn't matter what is the name as long as it is the same as the one that you entered when you cloned Sobi2 component (that was the first thing that bash clone script ask you for - not the second one). Now when sobi clone is installed you can see the name of the clone in Sobi2 component menu/Configuration/General Configuration/General under Component name.

...and try to delete the previous tracks of the module or plugin that you tried to install without a success if there are any, via some FTP client.

rm: cannot remove 'tempfile': No Such file or directory

I've got the same problem when trying to install cloned plugins, templates and languagefiles: "XML-Setup file does not exist in the package : 66"

Works fine on the original sobi but not on the cloned version, with the cloned plugin.

As I'm working with Windows XP I executed sobi clone.sh using a knoppix linux environment. It all seemed to be all right but I had to realize that - unlike the (very helpful!) video shows - the filename didnt change to the clone name.

However, I triec to install (Joomla 1.0.15) and received the error that XML setup file doesn't exist. Even though I did really everything exactly the way the video show.

Sobi clones would be a really great thing for my website, so after 3 days of trying I'm desperatly look for any help and solution.
