Should I run Joomla! 1.0 or 1.5
« on: 29. February 2008, 19:25:31 »
I keep getting this error when clicking on the link of my Joomla! 1.5v website:

Internet Explorer can not open internet site http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=sobi2&itemid55

Operation aborted

I'm sure its a pretty easy fix, but I'm a newbie and I am still tring to figure everything out. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Not sure what's going on your site, but couple of related posts:

About support for Joomla 1.5

1.0 vs 1.5

Your questions really depend on how well advanced you think your skills are.  I feel very comfortable with using javascript, PHP, mootools, HTML, etc.  I'm not an expert but I feel I can navigate through it.  You need to gauge your own skills and see what comfort level you can take.  If you feel experienced then go with joomla 1.5, w/ javascript template and hack everything the way you want it.  If you want a no fuss setup go joomla 1.0xx and sobi2 latest.

Thanks kai920

That's what I needed to hear. I am not a programmer and know that I would end up installing 1.0 anyway.

I appreciate your help

Wait....  u shouldn't give up on 1.5 too soon.  It could be the template u are using.  Do you have a URL to look at?

Sorry, I actually unpublished it, but I put it back. Its the link label "Pros and Business" on the main menu.

I check with FF and IE7 but I am still getting an error. I ask someone else to check and they also got a problem.

Thanks for checking

Ok in IE & FF I can click on the Pros and Business link and get the "Service DIrectory" all looks good.

However, in IE7 when I click on the "First Catergory"  I get a javascript Error.

Line: 193
Character: 1
Code: 0
Error Message: 'CAPTION' is undefined
URL: http://your site.com/index.php?option=com_sobi2&Itemid=55

ok a few questions for you.  First off does it crash in firefox for you?   Because firefox worked fine for me.  Next question.  Do you know what the variable 'Caption' belongs to (possibly something in another javascript?  Last question.  I see that you have mootools running and add event domready in the head of the code.  Do you have another someplace else in another JS file.
If you have no idea what the heck I am talking about let me know because right now I don't know you skill level.  From my first look I'd say that it's a javascript error problem within IE being dumb.

Every time I have to use IE I here tiny fingernails running across a chalkboard.  Does anyone know when they plan on fixing IE?   LOL
