[SOLVED] Front end add entry is not working - sh404sef
« on: 22. January 2010, 22:10:32 »
I searched the forum but couldn´t find something similar.
Actually I am using forum in 2 years and allways found a solution to my problems. This is the first time I write a question.

I have a exact copy of my live site at localhost and localhost is working OK regarding adding entries at front end.
Live site is not working. I don´t get some error message, just after a try to add entry i am redirected to list of entries without some message.
Link is (when i click save button):
index.php?option=com_sobi2&lang=hr&sobi2Task=saveSobi

And nothing happens. I never get new entry in sobi2 admin panel. Never mind if i empty all cache.

When i deactivate sh4040sef add entry is working OK.

In localhost everything is working OK, despite it is same site, same settings in sh404sef.
I first thought that it is maybe because of sh404sef htaccess setting (localhost is not using htaccess). I tried live with same sef settings as at localhost but it wont help. It is working only with sh4040sef deactivated. Joomla SEF still activated.

Tried with different browsers.

So, info is:
Sobi2 = RC 2.9.2.3 (Revision: 5314)
Joomla = 1.5.14
SH4040sef = 1.5.5.388

PHP version:
Localhost = 5.2.11
Live = 5.2.12

Mysql version:
Localhost = 5.1.36
Live = 5.0.22

I am thankful for any help.

Sobi2 sef plugin is installed and is last version. I never get some Sef urls listings in sobi2 admin panel.
But i think it is normal. Sh4040sef takes over completely.

I am trying different settings in my .htaccess file. Joomla is in a subfolder and .htaccess (in the root folder) has influence even when sh404sef has it disabled in its settings.

No luck as long, but I noticed dramatically improvement in page load speed. I don´t know if it is some temporary "good feeling" of shared hosting server. But it is dramatically.
Wrong settings in .htaccess file can have huge impact on page load.

Anyway i am writing this because I will write solution here. (if I find it).

Could anyone show some directions regarding this problem, please?

bbc2010,
The information you provided below, gives two clues as to potential causes of your problem.
Link is (when i click save button):
index.php?option=com_sobi2&lang=hr&sobi2Task=saveSobi
When i deactivate sh4040sef add entry is working OK.

(1) 'lang=hr' segment in the SOBI2 URL
I do not recognize the 'lang=hr' segment in the url index.php?option=com_sobi2&lang=hr&sobi2Task=saveSobi
This does not look like a 'normal' SOBI2 URL.
Are you using JoomFish or some other multi-lingual content Joomla! Extension?
If you are using Joomfish, I suggest your read How to run SobiSEF with JoomFish
If you are using some other multi-lingual content Joomla! Extension, then am I sorry, but I do not know how to help you.
If you are not using any multi-lingual content Joomla! Extension, then I do not understand why you have the 'lang=hr' segment in the url index.php?option=com_sobi2&lang=hr&sobi2Task=saveSobi

(2) SobiSEF and sh404SEF
Getting the SobiSEF plugin to work with other Joomla! SEF Extensions/plugins is problematic. This forum is full of postings from users (many with significant coding experience) discussing problems of getting the SobiSEF plugin to co-exist with other Joomla! SEF Extensions/plugins. The essential problem (as I understand it) is you have two SEF Extensions/plugins 'fighting' each other to create/maintain/decode SEF URL's.

The posting How to get sh404SEF working with SobiSEF may be of some help.
But I suspect yoobuild's advice not to use sh404SEF, and consider some other Joomla! SEF Component, such as AceSEF, should be seriously considered. (Refer sh404SEF, JoomSEF and AceSEF)

(3) SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials
The recommendations in SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials may provide some assistance, but I suspect your problem may be related to incompatible extensions/plugins.

(4) Joomla! in a sub-directory
The following may be of help in getting Joomla! to work correctly in a sub-directory.
How to get your Joomla! in a sub-directory to work
Hiding Joomla Subdirectory - GoDaddy
The SobiSEF plugin does work correctly if Joomla! installed in a sub-directory is working correctly.

I hope this helps - Mark

Thank you man. It was very detailed answer. I will go thru all this later.

'lang=hr' probably coming from front-end language (Croatian).

I had long time ago Joomfish installed but removed it because i had no need for it. It was never activated at site, and i could not find any instance of Joomfish in database. It doesn´t exist anymore. In source code it is nothing from Joomfish too. So i believe it is not that that is problem.

In sh404SF i deactivated all language translations. I see that Sobi SEF plugin is OK because i get these '&lang=hr'  on all extensions.

It could be this making problems. Have to find out why sh4040sef is putting 'lang=hr'. I have front-end in Croatian and admin panel in English.
-------------------

Update:
I just checked and it is sh404sef that is putting this "&lang=". (not Joomfish or similar)

If someone have same problems with this lang insert in links just deactivate option "301 redirect from JOOMLA SEF to sh404SEF" in sh404sef configuraton panel.

Still remains enigma why sh404sef don´t put these in localhost (completely site clone). But i spend so much time on this that i don´t care anymore. It is working now.

Thank you again. Hope your answer will help someone else too.
