Issues in 'Add All Categories to Entry URL'
« on: 27. January 2010, 19:09:46 »
When I check the subject setting to yes, SEF URLs are indeed different for entries in all categories, but in category view, title of not all entries link to the details page. I have all entries in 4 categories, and for each entry (in categoy view) the title in only one or two categories actually link to the details view; for the rest clicking the title simply reloads the page. I'm have SOBI2 as the home page. Please point if this is a resolved problem. I've just installed everything, so the versions are current. Thanks

I understand you have the configuration setting;
Joomla Administrator->Components->SOBI2->Plugins->SobiSEF->Add All Categories to Entry URL = Yes

.... the title in only one or two categories actually link to the details view; for the rest clicking the title simply reloads the page. ....
The problem (I think) you describe usually indicates that the SobiSEF plugin is unable to resolve the SEF URL.

Have you read and complied with SobiSEF Plugin Configuration Essentials? Incorrect configuration of Joomla! Menu Items is usually the cause of most SobiSEF plugin problems.

A link to the web site with the problem would be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

The site is still local. My problem is same as http://www.sigsiu.net/forum/index.php/topic,20783.msg74103.html#msg74103 - clicking the title in the category view loads the sobi2 frontpage even though the url is /category/entry.html; and because frontpage settings has the display of entries, the entries are displayed. This was happening only when I had menu links to categories. I have now removed the menu links to categories and also turned off category name in url. The url now is /entry.html which is fine with me.

I think it has something to do with menu links to categories, it seems by default the category name is included in the url this way even though the SobiSEF settings are set not to display the category name.

If you have Joomla! Menu Item links to SOBI2 Categories, then SEF URL's will be created with the Category Name in the SEF URL, regardless of the SobiSEF settings to display category names.
This is a Joomla! requirement and not a function of SobiSEF. It is difficult to explain the reasons why this happens. Refer Joomla!/SOBI2/SobiSEF - SEF URL's and breadcrumb/pathway construction - Items (1), (2), (3) and (4) for a detailed explanation.
