The SOBI2 Development Team proudly presents a new version of SOBI2. RC 2.9.0

Before you are going to update your current version to the new one, please read the important statement below.

This version is another big step in the SOBI2 progress. Among other new features, this new version includes the Joomla! 1.5 Semi-Native mode implementation.

What does semi-native mode mean?

Basically that means, that this SOBI2 version works in Joomla! 1.5 without the legacy plugin enabled.
However there are two limitation:

• SOBI2 has to be installed with the legacy plugin enabled. After the installation the legacy plugin can be disabled again.
• There is no support for the Joomla! 1.5 FTP-Layer.

Also the SOBI2 templating system has been extended significant in this new version. It is possible now to select individual templates for each category. Therefore also a template installer has been implemented.
A new function "countClick" has been added to the template commands. With this function it is possible to count clicks on URL links within SOBI2 entries. This functionality is shown on the SOBI2 demo site (http://joomla.sigsiu.net).

Important statement

For the "Joomla! 1.5 Semi-Native mode" we had to change the SOBI2 structure significant. Therefore some plugins are not longer fully compatible with the new SOBI2 version. If you use Joomla 1.0.x, Mambo or MiaCMS you can update your version to the new one without examination.

If you use Joomla! 1.5 and additional SOBI2 plugins please take a look to the following table to check out, if the plugin you use is compatible with the new version:

• Review & Rating Plugin (RC 2.1) - does not work
• Report Listings Plugin (RC1) - works without captcha
• SobiSEF Plugin (RC1) - works
• Import and Backup Plugin (RC 1.2) - works, but the last internal database backup date will be not be shown.
• Download Plugin (RC 2.1) - does not work
• Radius Distance Search Plugin (1.2) - does not work
• Featured Listing Plugin - works
• Gallery Plugin - works
• Flash MP3 Player Plugin - works

Version RC1 of the SobiSEF plugin is now available.
In this version we added Joomla! 1.5 native support and handling for RSS feed URLs. Also we fixed some bugs concerning the component alias name and the pathway.

We released a new version of the Geo Category Overview Module.

Individual markers can be used now for the general map or category dependent. Also a template can be created in the module settings to show different information in the bubble like the address or the image of the entry.
For each category, different zoom levels and center point coordinates can be given now.

The module also works now fully on Joomla! 1.5 and is adjusted to the new Google maps (terrain and satellite).

A new Language package Farsi (Persian) UTF-8 is now available for SOBI2. The backend is translated partially.
Also an updated version of the Norwegian Language package is available. It includes now a fully translated backend file.
