SOBI Answer There are several reasons why it is possible to get a "You are not authorized" message.

You are not authorised to view this resource.
You need to login.

This message is generated by Joomla!/Mambo. Possible reasons are...

  • First step to solve this problem is to switch OFF your SEF component. If it works now, clear are generated SEF URLs and rebuild them.
  • A common problem is that you have several Joomla! menu items of type "component" pointing to SOBI2 component and one of them is not accessible. Go to Joomla! menu manager and check all menu items in ALL menus.
  • This problem also occurs, if you have a menu entry pointing to any special SOBI2 page (e.g. the "Add New Entry" page) which is for registered users only and you haven't a component link for SOBI2 in the menu. If you haven't a component link for SOBI2 you will get the following ItemId in the URL address line if you click on a SOBI2 page: Itemid=0
A menu item of type "component" is necessary!
  • If you have a menu item pointing to any special SOBI2 page (e.g. the "Add New Entry" page) which is for registered users only and you have set the link URL without a leading slash. Change the menu item of type URL to have a leading slash. E.g. /index.php?option=com_sobi2&sobi2Task=usersListing
  • You get a "Restricted Access" message if you installed a module, plugin or any other add-on which is not written for Joomla! 1.5 native mode. In this case, switch Legacy mode ON.

If you get a mosmsg=You+are+not+authorized+to+see+this+page in URL address bar, this message is generated by SOBI2. You will get this message...

  • if you click on an old stored link to the details view of an unpublished entry
  • if you click on an old stored link to the details view of an expired entry (expired is the same as unpublished)
  • if you click on an old stored link to the details view of a non existing entry
  • You will get this message if you have set "Entry Configuration->Safety->Allow Adding Entries" to NO but you have a link to the "Add Entry" page published or you have entered the Task "sobi2Task=addNew" in your browser's address bar. Set General Configuration->General->Show Link "Add Entry" to NO. Also unpublish the link in the SOBI2 menu module.
